About Myddelton College

Myddelton College is a top Independent Boarding and Day School in the UK, established on a 37½ acre campus. The college takes its name from the renowned Myddelton family who, dating back to the 15th Century, were eminent figures in the history of Denbighshire and Wales, having been Members of Parliament for the local area as well as contributing to wider society across the United Kingdom.

Myddelton is located on the outskirts of the historic market town of Denbigh, situated at the foot of the 13th Century fortress of Denbigh Castle which dates back to 1859 and contains the perfect blend of historic architecture with modern facilities. The school is surrounded by a rich history as well as plenty of amenities and the spectacular Welsh countryside. It is easily accessible by road, rail and close to major airports.

A Microsoft Global Showcase School


Myddelton College is a Microsoft Global Showcase school and member of the exclusive EdTech50 group.


All lessons are delivered through Microsoft OneNote and Teams which provides parents and students with access to lessons from anywhere in the world at any time. This means students receive personalised feedback from their teachers in real time. Each student at Myddelton College has their own personal tablet device for learning. Students’ work is then differentiated to help them improve on their own targets, ensuring the work provided is both challenging and accessible to every pupil.

Many staff have been recognised for their exceptional abilities to teach in innovative ways using technology. They have been singled out by Microsoft as MIEEs (Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts) ensuring that our staff and students are at the cutting edge of classroom learning. Doors are unlocked using a fingerprint scanner, which identifies individual students. This system only allows entry to students and staff who are registered to have access to the building.

When students arrive at Myddelton College, they are joining their second family.



Myddeltonian students come from across the globe and we are fully equipped to cater for all dietary requirements. Breakfast ranges from traditional British to continental, and lunch and dinner consist of hot and cold food to suit the needs of all. There is also a boarding committee where students can discuss meals and request dishes. Themed nights are a regular occurrence and are based on nationalities or events such as Chinese New Year.


Typical Daily Routine

7:00am – Wake up, monitors ensure that all students are up and prepared for the day

7:45am – 8:15am Breakfast in the Main School Dining Hall, including boarding registration

8:30am – School registration with Form Tutor

8:45am – 4:00pm Lessons (lunch is served between 12:40pm and 1:35pm)

4:10pm – 5:00pm Enrichment Activities or Personalised Study

5:00pm – Dinner

5:30pm – 8:00pm Further Prep and Activity time


Weekend Activities

Myddelton offers an extensive range of trips and activities which take place each weekend and throughout half term breaks for those that remain at school. They encourage our students to experience the various opportunities and enjoy the beauty of the different towns and cities we visit. Parents are more than welcome to visit students in the evenings and weekends. Students also have the option to visit their friends over the weekend, whilst others may be busy taking part in various competitions such as triathlons or swimming.


The top priority at Myddelton College is to work with pupils to help them become confident, mature and well-educated young people, and for them to leave school well-equipped and prepared for the challenges that they will face in their lives.

Deciding on the right school for your son or daughter is hugely important. Myddelton College is a non-selective school, consideration for entry into Myddelton College is given to all boys and girls aged between 4 – 18.

Key Information


To apply for a place at Myddelton an application form is to be submitted to our Admissions Team with a non-refundable registration fee of HK$1000 (£100).


All pupils applying to Myddelton College will be expected to sit our entrance assessment.

Prep school candidates will be assessed on their Mathematics and their Developing ability.

Years 7 – 11 school candidates will be assessed on their Vocabulary, Mathematics,

Non-verbal ability and Skills.

Sixth form candidates will be assessed on their Vocabulary,

Mathematics and Non-verbal abilities.

All pupils applying will be expected to provide their latest school report.

Our selection process is designed to identify pupils who are able to benefit from our balanced and well rounded education and to make a positive contribution towards the life of the College.


A deposit of HK$5000 (£500) is then payable to secure a place (upon receipt of offer)

If an offer of a place is given, an invoice for the deposit and registration fee will be issued for immediate payment. Once paid, the place will be confirmed and a full joining pack will be sent.
